Dr. Teresa (Teddy) E. Araas is certified as a Yoga Therapist by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT), Health Education Specialist, enthusiastic wellness consultant, yoga/meditation practitioner and instructor dedicated to helping empower others in enhancing purpose in their lives. Through her business, Santosha Yoga Center, LLC, she offers 1-on-1 yoga therapy consultations, workshops, and classes tailored to meet specific needs of clients and students.
Teddy focuses on sustaining lifelong health and wellbeing, helping others create greater balance and healthier lifestyles to enrich quality of life.
Purposeful awareness and relaxation practices increase understanding of inherent mindful abilities to deal with daily life challenges, empowering personal “Healing from the Inside Out”. Thus, Teddy utilizes her role as listener, guide, and educator to help others to take greater charge of their lives, working toward a calmer self across all dimensions of wellness (physical, mindful, energetic, emotional, spiritual). Teddy has practiced and taught Yoga and meditation for more than 45 years, developing “body-friendly”, stress-relieving Yoga classes that focus on vinyasa (flow) and santosha (contentment). She promotes a sustainable individual practice for optimal health and wellbeing. Santosha Yoga Center is located in Old Taylor Elementary at 1030 North Main Street, Top Floor.
Credentials & Certifications
Teddy has completed certifications as a Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT & CYT700), educator/registered Yoga Teacher (eRYT500), and Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher (RPYT). Her training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) has been facilitated by senior staff from the Center For Mindfulness, including a 7-Day Residential Training in Mind-Body Medicine, Intensive 9-Day Advanced Practicum, and numerous eight-week MBSR courses. Teddy’s strong background in health and wellbeing, including her multidisciplinary doctoral degree in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Wellness, complement her ability in working with others. She has taught at Arizona State University, Phoenix, University of Nevada at Reno, Truckee Community College, Sparks, NV, Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, Provo, UT, as well as in various Los Angeles-based schools and dance studios. Presently, Teddy teaches pre-professional health-related courses at Sheridan Community College in Sheridan, WY, and holds an RMUoHP Adjunct Research Fellowship for assisting doctoral students through their dissertation process.
Teddy works with various organizations dedicated to enhancing quality of life for others, including the Sheridan Chamber of Commerce, Sheridan County Council of Social Agencies, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, American Yoga Alliance and the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She works closely with several local community-action groups that promote health and wellbeing for all.
